Trip Back To The Mother Land

I had a big write up ready to go but I think I'll let the photos do the talking. I do want to say thank you to my parents, grandparents, sister, brother, and all my friends for making our trip home a blast. Paige got to enjoy trains, airbooats, planes, fire trucks, and tractors. What more could a kid ask for. For those of you who have no idea where I'm originally from here's a little info.

Name: North Bend, NE
Location: 50 miles West of Omaha on the Platte River off of Hwy 30
Population: A little over 1200 people
Town Size: About 1 mile square

If you ever get the chance to visit a small town in the Midwest it's a must. You will not find nicer people anywhere else. I have lived in some really great places but none top the Midwest. These are real people doing real things. North Bend is full of good old family love and living life with a smile on your face. This is the heart of good family values.

Growing up in a small town was a great experience. Especially now that I have lived in so many different places around the US I have realized how great it was.

Riding the flat roads of Nebraska

There were 88 antique tracks who took part in about a 60 mile ride. They went from town to town showing off their old tractors. They could only go 14mph so they had a long day on the road. It was really neat and Paige loved it. Paige waving at the drivers
Tractors as far as the eye can see. I passed them on my road bike when I was coming back into town from my morning ride. Pretty cool!

First ride on the airboat.

Stoping for a little walk

What are the odds? Dodd's 20 year class reunion was this weekend. Yea...like Dodd has time to come home for his reunion. I guess when you have an F16 at your disposal it only takes about 2 1/2 to fly from California to Nebraska. So he came home for the night and flew back out the next morning. It was good seeing you Dodd.

Connie and Lyn pushing Paige and Riley on the merry-go-round
Paige and I checking out Dodd's dad's plane.
Talking to Paige about the propeller

Dodd, his dad Doug, and his nephew loaded up to fly back down to Lincoln where Dodd had his jet parked.
See ya....

Getting ready to play a little BINGO with Grandma and Great Grandma

Check out their faces.

In line for some yummy waffles

Time for the parade
Shelley and Paige
Lanny found out Paige loves trains. Lanny works for Union Pacific Railroad so of course he had a few train calendars in his car. Paige has the calendar hanging in her room. Trains are her new thing. We had a train go through town about every 15 minutes so Paige was in heaven. Some of the family after the parade

On our way home becasue Paige did so good in the car we decided to stop at the Knoxville, TN Zoo. Paige checking out some birds.

The gorilla was out and about

Looks like you had a great trip. I like small towns. Reddin' used to be small. It's growing and not for the better.
