Great Night For A Night Ride

Busy day at work today. I did get out for a quick road ride during lunch to clear my mind. When I got back I had a message from Cashen saying “night ride tonight Bedsaul”. So I thought for about 3 seconds and said “I’m in”. The three of us had a great ride. The temperature when I left the house was around 35 degrees but it felt a little warmer once we got moving. We were all doing the single speed thing. I love my single speed! I love it so much I have not been on a geared mountain bike for almost a year and a half. Anyways...it was a lot of fun and it made me think of all the night riding Ken and I used to do after work in Redding. We did a lot of riding with our lights.

Leaving Cashen's house for the ride. He live 1 block up the street from us.

Another great night ride in the backyard.

Who Are We Now?

I cannot help but post this. I just received this from a friend. What has happened to us as a country? Roosevelt is my hero!

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed , or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American..There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

I Should Of Just Drank Beer This Weekend

The weather was so nice last weekend. It was in the 70’s on Saturday and Sunday. Lyn and I ventured to the Raleigh – Durham area to visit my dad and to do a cross race on Sunday in Durham. Hanging with the family was great the cross race was horrible. Last week I maybe logged 1 hour on my bike and I expected to be competitive. Boy was I wrong. I got my a-- handed to me. It only took 2 laps before I realized this was going to be a horrible race. I felt like I was dragging around a 40 pound weight behind me. People I usually never see were passing me and even saying “Bedsaul what’s up”. So anyways I finished the race even though I wanted to stop after two laps. After the race we ate lunch with Frank and Anne and headed home. I hope this weekend I can redeem myself. I will force myself to ride the trainer this week if I have to. I hate the trainer!

This was NOT me this weekend!

I should have been doing this instead of racing. I would of had more fun.

Lunch Ride Saved My Day

We have had a really crazy week with work and everything going on right now. I finally got out for a quick late lunch ride today. I have a race this Sunday and I have only been on my bike once this week (today). Should be an interesting weekend.

A Visit To The Nature Center

Paige, Lyn, and I went to the nature center the other day. We thought it would be fun to show Paige snakes, frogs, turtles, birds, and other cool animals. Unfortunately it started to rain when we got there and most of the exhibits are outside. It was a pretty short trip but we will be back.

Winter Cross Has Started

Winter cross season has official started. That means no more nice sunny warm days. Lyn, Paige, and I loaded up and headed to the race. The weather on Saturday was unbelievable. It was 70 degrees! This is not normal. It did rain really hard on Thursday and Friday which meant we were treated to a muddy course. Lots of power was need for the Saturday race. I used all my power (which is not much) and landed a 4th place finish. Not to bad for coming off the Holiday season.

Today was a different store. The rain is here! It was about 45 degrees and raining for the race. The good thing was the course had some paved sections which helped make up for lost time in the muddy and slippery sections. I ended up 2nd today. Next week it's off to Durham.

70 in January? I forgot my jersey so I raced in my base layer. I was looking pretty sweat!

New Years Day Ride

My neighbor Cashen and I did a nice road ride on New Years Day. The weather here has been great for this time of year. You have got to take advantage of the clear sky and warm weather when you can. I’m sure the cross races this weekend will be rainy and cold.

Taken a little breather to enjoy the views.
