Today I did my part as a consumer and helped our economy. I do a lot of driving for my job and my 2004 Tacoma TRD had over 71,000 miles on it. So before I stacked another 25K on it in the next year I thought it was time for a new work truck. I made the much need jump to the Tundra TRD. I have been extremely pleased with Toyota and their trucks. There resale value is through the roof. If you plan on trading in a car or truck every few years a Toyota is a good call.

Ian's 30th B-Day Party
Last night was Ian’s 30th birthday party. They had a wine tasting party. Everyone got a list of the wines and they wrapped all the bottles in paper. You had to taste each wine and guess which one it was on the list. The winner got a bottle of good wine and the loser got a bottle of Boone’s Farm. Well….Lyn did not get one right on the list. A big fat ZERO for big brain. So she won the Boone’s Farm. Ian received a really nice present. I’m sure you have all seen these things. The picture is an electronic moving picture. Hilarious! It will look great over their fireplace. It was a really fun party.

My House to Cherokee
I decided once again to put the hurt on myself. This is one of my ways to relieving my everyday stress load. I decided to ride from my house to Cherokee, NC. It’s about 80 miles to the KOA campground from our house. Because I have such an understanding and lovable wife she agreed to meet me at the campground. The Blue Ridge Parkway is an extremely challenging area to ride. You work for ever bit of elevation you gain. When you ride the Parkway you’re either going up or down. Not too many flat sections. Actually I only know of one section that flat and it’s only about 3 miles long. I took off at about 12:00 noon and arrived at about 5:30pm. 16,000 plus feet of climbing...it was a great and challenging ride. Below is the profile of the ride. A lot of climbing but that's the way I like it!

The Single Speed Is Being Built
When we got back from our hike I saw Gabe's shop doors were open. That usually means one thing...frames are being built. So I headed over with my camera and took a few photos of my frame being tacked up for the final welding. It's coming together very nicely. I cannot wait to ride it. I miss having a single speed.

Assault on Mt. Mitchell Race
Through my quest to find a number to do the Assault on Mt. Mitchell…I have finally found one. I have wanted to do this race since I moved here. It's kind of a pain to get into the ride because they only let 1,000 people race to the top. Once you get on the list you are guaranteed a spot for next year unless you sell your number. Check out the climbing chart. All the climbing comes in the last 30 some miles of the 102 mile ride. It's a pretty challenging course. The real challenge is I have a race on June 9th called the Roan Groan and June 11th is Mitchell. Lots of climbing!
